Royal Mail publishes a full price grid, and its online prices beat its branch prices on nearly every row

What the grid actually contains

Read on 10 September 2026, the grid runs over eight services: Tracked 24, Tracked 48, Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am and by 1pm, Signed For 1st and 2nd Class, and plain 1st and 2nd Class. Each is priced at up to four size tiers, from a Letter at 24cm x 16.5cm x 0.5cm and 100g up to a Medium Parcel at 61cm x 46cm x 46cm and 20kg.

The cheapest parcel on it is a 2nd Class Small Parcel at £3.95 online and £4.25 in a branch. The cheapest thing on it at all is a 2nd Class Letter at £0.91. The most expensive is Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am from £53.95.

The two things the grid shows that nothing else does

Buying online is cheaper than buying in a Post Office on nearly every row, and the gap widens with the service: 30p on a 2nd Class Small Parcel, 45p on a Tracked 48 Large Letter, £1.05 on a Tracked 24 Small Parcel and £1.70 on a Tracked 24 Medium Parcel.

And tracked is sometimes cheaper than untracked. A Tracked 48 Small Parcel is £3.65 online where a 2nd Class Small Parcel is £3.95, so the default a lot of senders reach for costs more and tells them less.

What it does not publish

There is no per-destination international page. Royal Mail publishes international zones rather than countries, so no destination coverage is claimed for it in this record even though it plainly delivers to all of them.

It also publishes one figure this record found nowhere else and almost nowhere near: collection at 30p per item on Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 bought online. Every other company here charges for collection without saying what it charges.
